Types of SQL Statements in Oracle Database
SQL Statements in Oracle Database can be divided into followings:
- Data Definition Language (DDL) : CREATE, ALTER, DROP, RENAME, COMMENT, TRUNNCATE, PURGE, FLASHBACK, ANALYZE, AUDIT, NOAUDIT, ASSOCIATE STATISTICS, DISASSOCIATE STATISTICS
- Data Control Language (DCL) : GRANT, REVOKE
- Data Manipulation Language (DML) : INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, MERGE, CALL, LOCK TABLE, EXPLAIN PLAN
- Data Query Language (DQL) : SELECT
- Transaction Control Language (TCL) : SAVEPOINT, COMMIT, ROLLBACK, SET TRANSACTION, SET CONSTRAINT
- Session Control Statements : ALTER SESSION, SET ROLE
- System Control Statements : ALTER SYSTEM
- Embedded SQL Statements : DDL, DML, TCL within procedural language program like COBOL, C, C++
